A beautiful woman with her cool Prada sunglasses and other accessories today in Soho
A cool simple bike neutral ”Street Style” snapshot off Astor Place the other day
I didn’t even see her bow tie scarf/neckwear until afterwards - awesome
I just like how simple this is - I love beige and gray on people and primary colors on (vintage) bikes! I think I’ve said this a lot but I detest the ostentatiousness of “fashion” sometimes. I just like clothes. I like to study what people wear, present people of New York, and hopefully flatter them a bit and make them happy! Etc, etc, etc. The best is when someone is comfortable with themselves and what they wear because it makes them happy - confident - literally comfortable - and they walk around and have a good day : )
Her bag reminds me this Chloe bag but isn’t quite it. I’m sure the one she has is more affordable (?). If anybody knows who it is by, let me know!

PS - My Calumet Photo show “Backstage / Poses” is up! The show opens this Thursday 6-8 p at 20 West 22nd Street. It’ll be up through the 26th. I’ll make a post and page about it soon!
This post is about … clothes and character: This is Sally from Sydney, Australia on Kenmare Street. She and her husband are visiting from Australia. I bumped into them right after passing by Ruby’s which is an Australian eatery actually.
I liked how she wasn’t afraid to wear a bit of color with her pants and how she subtly mixed in her polka-dot socks! I like her boots of course and how she drapes her top. What really made it for me was her hat - a beautiful, timeless accessory. I’m not sure how to describe it - but I like that embroidered/pendant type thing. She doesn’t work in fashion but still cares about it a healthy amount. This is my perfect subject - someone who looks great, is subtle, and isn’t showy with their fashion.
Hat - Sonia Rykiel
Something else I didn’t note correctly - her pants I think - Sass and Bide
Everything was bought in Sydney.
Sass and Bide is. so. cool. Look at their Spring 2012 RTW collection here. I know, I’m quite new to this, I had heard of Sass and Bide before but meeting Sally made me have a reason to really research them. They aren’t afraid to use colors and have fun. They are creative. Each of their collection has its own little personality. I’m not sure how to describe it but I got a similar feeling when I first discovered J.W. Anderson (UK). I think Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, Sass and Bide designers, have worked in London and show in London. Their clothes allow the wearer to visit a different world, be imaginative, unabashed, yet everything is fairly wearable - it’s not insane and gaudy. It’s healthy, a mixture of solid colors and patterns. Here’s their Fall 2011 collection. I’ll let Meenal Mistry explain.
I have always wanted to visit Australia or England - I’ve been meeting a lot of Australians lately and they all seem quite cool - it’d be nice to work in either place.
Refinery 29 did a piece of Australian Designers to follow a few days ago (Sass and Bide included!)
This isn’t my style but if you’re into really bright, patterned things, here’s some inspiration.
I suppose what I’m doing with this blog sometimes is just snapping photos of outfits or accessories that inspire me in my style and how I dress each day (which something that’s ever-changing, a bit continuous — 90% of the time it is the same black jeans and t-shirt) or if I were ever to design something. Sometimes I post incase someone else can get inspired!
Prints of the season. I saw so many men wearing sporty puffy camouflage coats and accessories (like a Bape iPhone case). A lot of vests too. Lots of sporty personalized shoes in addition to the common brogues. I have been seeing leopard print everywhere today on women. Jennette, her accessories picture above, also had leopard print collar on her coat. Saw a lot of Mary K, Celine esque prints at the tents. Vibrant, detailed, attention catching, with varied fabrics will continue through the season, they are everywhere in the editorials right now.
Alessandra Codinha (Women’s Wear Daily) on the Bowery NYFW Day 4 (Sorry for catching you off guard! You looked too good!)
I saw so much fur this season on and off the runway. This one is vintage and that collar makes it WORK. Also check out the amazing detail in her heels and accessories!
You can see more of Alessandra in Garance Dore’s new series “Pardon My French” Episde 2 here. She’s also a Sartorialist veteran with a diverse palette. Glad I got to shoot her away from the tents!
PS: Here is a similar coat but in a fashion-don’t way. What is this pattern called?

Another one from FW (a good one… I know this is all quite basic but this is how I learn!)

This is definitely one of my favorite Fashion Week photos because we happened to be walking to the show from the East Village and I got to shoot him in a different environment. It’s a really nice breather and I wanted to wait until after the shows to post it. I need focus on school and other real-world tasks but this image is one that actually captures what I want and inspires me to shoot more.
