FW Style: Lily Gatins
Here’s a fashion plate who The Inside Source coincidentally snapped at Art Basel 2012 also. This snowy Fashion Week in New York, we spotted her wearing Kuboraum sunglasses, a Dell Plummer necklace, and dress by Lucia Cuba — topped off with Marsell shoes and a fur clutch. “I usually search for Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto on eBay” says the fashion writer for www.le-report.com. “I wanted the Yohji mountain hat in black and only found it in brown”. Keep searching Lily! It’ll come back around again on eBay. It always does.

I’m a bit press shy but I had an interview with Lily Gatins of Le Report
Check it out by clicking here: http://www.le-report.com/2012/12/melodie-jeng.html or the photo above.
It was a fun day. Thank you!
Side note, Kelly Mittendorf is selling her Prada heels. See her post here.

Also I need to cut my hair.

On the Subway II: Introducing Imi and Japanese Fashion
On the way home from work yesterday, I saw next to Imi. Imi is originally from Japan but moved to New York City when she was 22 (my age!) She was talking with her friend, they were so cute. Anyway, she was wearing this robe/dress that was so interested and I asked her about it! She used to work in fashion and owned a boutique in Soho in the 1980’s.
She got the piece (I guess it might be somewhat of a kimono) in Japan. Japanese fashion is very interested to me and much more forward than other fashion because they incorporate the traditional Kimono technique and ways of pleating so the fabrics last long. This technique was started by the amazing Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons. I don’t know much more about the technique but simply talking to people, seeing things, and feeling fabrics is the way I learn about fashion, art, cultures, and the world!
Thank you, Imi. I’m so glad I took the subway yesterday!

1. Not the best picture but denim done right. Similar to this photo.

2. Stopped by the Comme Des Garcons store in Chelsea today. Wanted to show you the Hats Anthology by Stephen Jones inside but I’m going to make you go to the store and look yourself ; )

3. Rain at the 23rd street station, 1 line.

4. A mannequin from Rootstein on West 19th, the world’s leading mannequin design company. They had another AMAZING one in the display - this one is just fun because of the reflection. It almost looks like a real person : )

I also passed by the amazing Les Toiles du Soleil for the first time. Definitely going to go get some espradilles made : ) I don’t care that it’s rainy and almost October!

Happy weekend, I’m enjoy mine with the new issues of Harper’s Bazaar and Elle then shooting an event and movie all weekend. Hopefully I can shoot street style next weekend xx

PS: I am loving my internship! <3
