A cool simple bike neutral ”Street Style” snapshot off Astor Place the other day
I didn’t even see her bow tie scarf/neckwear until afterwards - awesome
I just like how simple this is - I love beige and gray on people and primary colors on (vintage) bikes! I think I’ve said this a lot but I detest the ostentatiousness of “fashion” sometimes. I just like clothes. I like to study what people wear, present people of New York, and hopefully flatter them a bit and make them happy! Etc, etc, etc. The best is when someone is comfortable with themselves and what they wear because it makes them happy - confident - literally comfortable - and they walk around and have a good day : )
Her bag reminds me this Chloe bag but isn’t quite it. I’m sure the one she has is more affordable (?). If anybody knows who it is by, let me know!

A little out of my element - Paige on 2nd Avenue
Paige is a dominatrix and pinup model who had just gotten back from long flight from Japan but it doesn’t look like it, right?
It’s not my style but I always like red and black. She was really bubbly and nice and I think she dresses really well for her body. She’s a good model and knows how to present herself in public.
This is nothing against her personally but I prefer people to stand straight with their arm’s at their side or whatever pose they were in before I asked to take their photo because the way they were standing unconsciously not knowing a camera pointed at them is what I’m really interested in. I didn’t really like her pose at first but after letting it sit a few days, I don’t mind - there are poses I like but I always want the subject to feel comfortable and that their photo represent themselves of course.

On the Bowery today (April 1, 2012) before it started raining.
Do male modeling agencies just give their boys a skateboard when they get signed? Just Kidding.
Nice black New York uniform and fun laces!
Always keep your eyes open:
As I have been hanging my show the last two days, I’ve been wishing I had exchanged contact information with some of the subject’s I’ve shot. I got lucky walking home tonight. I saw Alexandra! I photographed her last fall and may or may not have chased her a block because I was shy … It was meant to be! I wasn’t sure it if was her at first but it was. She had just serendipitously bumped into another group of friends that moment which gave me a moment to gather myself, check it was her, and be a semi-normal human being.
Ali is an artist living in the Lower East Side! I don’t feel like posting the photo now - come to the show to see it! Always keep your eyes open! There’s always so much to see in New York.
“thenycstreets” opens this Thursday from 6-8 pm on the 8th floor of 721 Broadway at Waverly Place. It is part of “Show 3.” I have a magazine, “Dress Codes” I am giving away and 16 portraits on display some which I have never posted. The show runs through April 14. If you can’t make it, I will also have another show at Calumet Gallery opening April 5 and after Show III, NYU Tisch will put up Show IV which I am in as well.

She had really cool back pockets! My guess is some of this is Alex Wang, Givenchy or similar designers. New York Uniform.
Anthony before Y3
This is definitely one of my favorite Fashion Week photos because we happened to be walking to the show from the East Village and I got to shoot him in a different environment. It’s a really nice breather and I wanted to wait until after the shows to post it. I need focus on school and other real-world tasks but this image is one that actually captures what I want and inspires me to shoot more.
I thought these shoes were pretty ugly when I was walking home yesterday… but they caught my attention so that means something? I have been seeing a lot of spots around town and could make a collage. But I don’t think I ultimately like this style. Spots and studs (which I saw a lot around NYFW) just remind me of Hot Topic and Forever 21 club outfits. It’s nice and unique, I just prefer simple safe style myself. Not a lot of people can pull it off without a nicely lit “street style” or editorial photograph.
