Conchi on Broadway above Union Square
This is from a little while ago. It got very warm in New York right after and now it is cold again.
Conchi was visiting from Spain and her mother made her coat. I’m not sure, I think that print is Paisley? Anyway, I like how subtle it is and that her mother made it!

Always keep your eyes open:
As I have been hanging my show the last two days, I’ve been wishing I had exchanged contact information with some of the subject’s I’ve shot. I got lucky walking home tonight. I saw Alexandra! I photographed her last fall and may or may not have chased her a block because I was shy … It was meant to be! I wasn’t sure it if was her at first but it was. She had just serendipitously bumped into another group of friends that moment which gave me a moment to gather myself, check it was her, and be a semi-normal human being.
Ali is an artist living in the Lower East Side! I don’t feel like posting the photo now - come to the show to see it! Always keep your eyes open! There’s always so much to see in New York.
“thenycstreets” opens this Thursday from 6-8 pm on the 8th floor of 721 Broadway at Waverly Place. It is part of “Show 3.” I have a magazine, “Dress Codes” I am giving away and 16 portraits on display some which I have never posted. The show runs through April 14. If you can’t make it, I will also have another show at Calumet Gallery opening April 5 and after Show III, NYU Tisch will put up Show IV which I am in as well.

Top and bottom outfits - I’m not sure who she is. I’m sure she is someone in fashion. I like her hair. But I like her outfit - atleast what I can see of it.

Anyone know who her skirt is by? I’m going to be like “DUH” when I find out. I really like that shade of green (NOT St. Patrick’s Day green) and the way it falls - is it called draping? and how it has a belt at the bottom. It looked like a top worn as a bottom at first. Is it wool? Looks warm and comfy with structure - different than most other skirts. I like her sense of layering and paying attention to details, especially how her top wraps around neck so delicately - is that a silky material? Beautiful. Her vest doesn’t look too crazy puffy or sporty and I believe she has a simple Proenza Schouler bag which everybody loves in New York. She was wearing slightly loose black leather boots - around ankle length, leather, with buckles, Marc Jacobs ish which makes sense. Outside Marc by Marc Jacobs.

And yes my show opens on Thursday. Info here.

Snapshots from the Upper East Side! Fabulous.

Back to the basics - black on Bowery.
She had really cool back pockets! My guess is some of this is Alex Wang, Givenchy or similar designers. New York Uniform.

Madison and 91st - Getting assimilated to shooting in the Upper East Side. I feel like I’m more of a documentary photographer up there, it’s a good challenge. More proper photos soon.

What you truly call layering

I bumped into Berto the other day on Astor Place. We talked for a while. He’s originally from Indonesia. He has lived in the East Village for a while. I caught him while he was staring at the Cooper Union building that was torn down at Astor Place. He was noticing the buildings behind it for the first time. I forget what he did while working but now he goes around and takes photos! He likes to take before/after photos of buildings and also photos of places in the same place from year to year (picture above is Washington Square Park, one year apart), showing how global warming has changed our climate! Super sweet man. He was so excited. I don’t even know what his outfit change was! He really wanted a photo infront of that Cooper Union building which was glaring light so I wasn’t sure how to photograph it. Next time!

MODEL STYLE: THAIRINE GARCIA @ FORD
Mother Agency: Way - Brazil
I’m very excited to present Thairine. I bumped into her between castings in Soho. It took me a while to confirm who she was as she recently went from brunette to platinum blond. Her new Polaroids are featured on the Ford blog here. She was youngest model ever to grace the cover of Elle Brazil in 2011 (June or December). She is currently on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Brazil (January 2012). She is very sweet and a Brazilian superstar right now. I think she has supermodel potential as she becomes bigger worldwide!
