Christopher and Nicola after Richard Chai
It was Nicola’s first NY show and first time at Lincoln Center! Here’s a cool photo of Nicola and Richard backstage via William Yan. The show was great.
Nicola had a Tumblr party that week, I wish I had known! He is pretty big on tumblr and instagram! nicolaformichetti.tumblr.com The Thierry Mugler women’s show is next Wednesday at 9 pm in Paris. I saw Rick Genest everywhere NYFW. Nicola is very nice and fun. I can’t wait.
Sui He (New York Models) leaves Richard Chai FW12
G-o-r-g-e-o-u-s. She’s so adorable but she can pull off so many looks.
Check out “Sui He’s Chic” video of her by models.com and Kloss London from this season. She was on W Magazine’s Cover this past November by Max Vadakuhl and Ai Wei Wei among her many editorials, campaigns (Lane Bryant with the other Chinese models), and shows. I like to visit this blog to stay updated with my asian models! http://asianmodelsblog.blogspot.com Sui is ranked #19 at models.com See her page here.
Watching Costello Tagliapietra
I think I’m going to shoot more people watching the shows using lights from the shows. It would be an interesting project. As tiring as it may get with 300+ shows just in New York, it’s always still very exciting to see the amount of work that has gone into a collection and show. One thing I learned is that it’s okay to get excited about fashion. Stay professional but we’re all in this industry because we love it.
Mixing fabrics on Astor Place - a panel of plaid.
I shot this after NYFW. I’m not in love with it but I’m intrigued. It’s more much subtle than the flashy mixing and matching of prints outside the tents. I feel like it’s truer “street style” - trickled down from the fashion show runway to the unofficial runway/red carpet/street style hullaballoo outside the tents to a random person I encountered. Maybe they work in fashion, maybe they follow fashion, but who knows. This just clicked with me. I’ve got some exciting photos coming up!
PS: I see people do this a lot downtown with flannel plaid shirts, they wrap it around their waist and layer. It’s a lot more casual and downtown grungy. I didn’t go out much this weekend and then went out the other day and remembered how young and downtown my neighborhood - I saw so many remnants of the punk and rock in roll (now hipster-esque) age on St. Mark’s.
Back to the basics II - Washington Square Park
Prints of the season. I saw so many men wearing sporty puffy camouflage coats and accessories (like a Bape iPhone case). A lot of vests too. Lots of sporty personalized shoes in addition to the common brogues. I have been seeing leopard print everywhere today on women. Jennette, her accessories picture above, also had leopard print collar on her coat. Saw a lot of Mary K, Celine esque prints at the tents. Vibrant, detailed, attention catching, with varied fabrics will continue through the season, they are everywhere in the editorials right now.
Back to the basics - black on Bowery.
She had really cool back pockets! My guess is some of this is Alex Wang, Givenchy or similar designers. New York Uniform.
Anthony before Y3
This is definitely one of my favorite Fashion Week photos because we happened to be walking to the show from the East Village and I got to shoot him in a different environment. It’s a really nice breather and I wanted to wait until after the shows to post it. I need focus on school and other real-world tasks but this image is one that actually captures what I want and inspires me to shoot more.
Madison and 91st - Getting assimilated to shooting in the Upper East Side. I feel like I’m more of a documentary photographer up there, it’s a good challenge. More proper photos soon.
Fashion (week) is disposable too. #streetstylebloggers
Now for the young - I like these cropped (?) pants? I like whatever material they are - cottony tweed/denim? And I like how his parents made him layer and wear so many socks and leggings :) I wonder what he was trying to see with those binoculars! I also miss velcro shoes. Frida Gustavsson was photographed wearing velcro shoes by Stockholm Streetstyle here recently (does Caroline shoot it…?) so maaybe it’ll become a trend. I love Frida’s jacket though.
